Global Majors Asia Remains Key

Bolstered by its SBS Nordic acquisition and continued organic growth in Latin America, Asia and Europe, Discovery’s international business will generate close to US$1 bil. in EBITDA this year with Asia contributing more than 15%.

News Corp’s international pay channels business, housed under Fox International Channels (FIC), is expected to generate US$810 mil. in EBITDA for FY 2013 (FYE June, EBIT is estimated at around US$780 mil.) with FIC Asia & the Middle East expected to contribute 23%, excluding the recently acquired ESPN-Star Sports (ESS) business, according to the latest Media Route 26 research report published by Media Partners Asia (MPA). News Corp. is confident that FIC’s total EBIT will reach US$1 bil. by FYE June 2015.

All of these numbers exclude News Corp’s large TV broadcast business in India, housed under Star. Based on FY 2013 numbers, the Asian channels (FIC plus Star India) business accounts for 38% of News Corp’s international channels EBITDA, including sports.
